System check

“I can see you're upset about this. Perhaps you should sit down and take a stress pill.”

Farewell
“My mind is going. I can feel it. Goodnight.”
About the voice
The most restrained voice in the catalogue. There is no stress on any word, which is unnerving precisely because human speech cannot do that for long. It makes a refusal sound reasonable and a reasonable statement sound like a refusal.
Because it never emphasises anything, punctuation matters more than usual — a full stop is the only tool you have for placing a beat. Short sentences separated by full stops read best.
In the app it is listed as HAL, in the robots collection. It generates on the free tier, with no watermark.
What people make with it

How to make a HAL 9000 AI voice
- 1
Type what you want HAL to say in the box at the top of this page. Punctuation sets the timing: a full stop buys a longer gap than a comma.
- 2
Tap Generate. That opens AI Voice on the App Store — it is free and there is nothing to set up.
- 3
In the app, open the voice list and choose HAL — that is HAL 9000.
- 4
Generate, then save the audio to your phone or send it straight into whatever you are editing.
Questions
Type your line in the box at the top of this page, then tap Generate to open AI Voice on iPhone. Pick HAL — the HAL 9000 voice in the app — and generate. There is no recording and no setup: it reads whatever you type.
More like this
C-3PO
The protocol droid from Star Wars
Fussy, clipped and mildly panicked — a very polite robot having a difficult day.
Darth Vader
Star Wars' central villain
Deep, flat, and mechanically calm — the villain read that works because it never raises its voice.
AI Voice is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the rights holders of HAL 9000. This is a synthetic imitation of a recognisable delivery style, not a recording or a clone, and it is offered for parody, commentary and entertainment. Names are used to describe the style of the voice.
