About the voice
The voice is only half of it. The other half is the word order, and that part is on you: put the object first and the verb last and the impression lands. The model handles the rest — the creak, the pauses, the small intake of breath before a clause.
It reads short lines far better than long ones. Anything past about fifteen words and the inverted grammar stops being funny and starts being hard to follow.
